WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - A Republican gubernatorial candidate is picking people who would serve in her cabinet before voters choose the party's nominee for November.

Republican Patricia Morgan said Thursday she wants former Republican gubernatorial contender John Robitaille to lead the state's economic development agency. Robitaille lost in 2010 to Lincoln Chafee.

Morgan also picked someone to lead a new inspector general's office and said she'd bring in another former gubernatorial contender to root out government waste.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in 2016 named Carly Fiorina as his vice president to try to secure the GOP presidential nomination.

Morgan says she isn't emulating Cruz- she wants voters to know what they're getting if she's elected.

Morgan criticized her opponent, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, for not sharing more of his plans.

The primary is Wednesday.
